The leadership of KPHS comprises internationally-renowned experts who are at the cutting edge of new developments in the field of medicine. There is a strong academic background to the team which guarantees the quality and integrity of the programmes. The members are dynamic, have a vested interest in the Company and, as their CV’s attest, have strong leadership and management skills. The KPHS team is fully versed with best practices in occupational health. The Directors of KPHS have a unique collective set of expertise. These are:
Prof Umesh Lalloo (MbChB, FCP, MD, DoH, FRCP, FCCP, Fellow of the Univ of KwaZulu-Natal).
Prof Lalloo is a master clinician and one of the most experienced occupational lung disease specialists in South Africa. He completed his PhD in 1991. He is a founder member of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has completed several research projects in occupational health and brings a wealth of experience into KPHS.
Dr Sandy Pillay: MBChB, Dip OccHealth, Dip HIV Man
Dr Pillay is a medical and occupational medicine practitioner with diplomas in occupational health and HIV management. He has over 20 years of experience as a medical practitioner. He is a distinguished lecturer, researcher and programme director. Dr Pillay is the manager of a US National Institutes of Health multimillion dollar research program. He was the Director of a large Occupational Health grant funded by the Global Fund given to the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was involved in the provision of high level occupational health programmes in various parts of South Africa, manages the HIV graduate program at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is an international expert in HIV and TB. He pioneered the largest HIV behavior modification project in South Africa.
Dr Rosie Mnqibisa: MBChB, Dip HIV Man
Dr Mngqibisa is a medical practitioner with a diploma in HIV management and advanced health management certificate. She has more than 10 years experience working in both the public and private health sectors and has extensive experience in HIV and TB Management. She currently manages a large HIV/AIDS research unit and contributes to the HIV academic teaching and ARV expansion programs. She is part of scientific committees that provide direction to an HIV network on improved outcomes and better management of HIV in women. She is passionate about disease prevention and health promotion and sees them as cornerstone to any health system.
Dr Shalin Moodley MBChB
Dr Shalin Moodley is a medical practitioner with more than a decade of experience in both the private and public sectors. He qualified at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in 2004 and served his internship at the Addington Hospital in Durban. Thereafter he served his community service at the Itshelejuba Hospital in Pongola with a further year as a senior medical officer at the same hospital. In November 2006 he commenced private practice in Bergville as a partner in the Bergville Medical Centre, whilst practicing in Bergville, he worked extensively at the Emmaus Hospital in the Accident and Emergency Unit as well as co-ordinating the ARV and TB Clinics. Dr Moodley then returned to his hometown of Tongaat, commencing private practice at the Tongaat Medical Centre in 2010. He is the current chairman of the Tongaat IPA and serves on various boards of local community organisations.
Dr Sanesha Moodley
Dr Sanesha Moodley qualified at Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, UKZN. She completed her internship at Tygerberg Hospital and Addington Hospital. Community Service served at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital and was appointed as Senior Medical Officer thereafter.
In 2008 she worked in Ireland as an Accident and Emergency Registrar. On return to South Africa, she worked on Netcare’s Aeromedical Services and at various casualties in Durban.
She ran the Mediclinic Victoria Emergency Unit from 2010 to 2014. Certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr Moodley is currently practicing Family Medicine at Tongaat Medical Centre.
Mr Reeves Parsee: BA (Law), LLB, LLM
Mr Parsee has been in private practice since 1992 (20 years), a director in the law firm Larson Falconer Hassan Parsee Inc. His relevant experience includes interpretation of statutes and contracts for corporate and NGOs having assisted clients both locally and internationally. He has undertaken and completed course work in law and medical practice. He brings legal expertise to KPHS and in ensure that projects undertaken comply with legislative frameworks nationally and internationally He has experience and legal expertise in respect of occupational health legislation having being involved in matters pertaining to compliance with the relevant legislation.
